An alleged robber was killed while two of his accomplices escaped after a police encounter near Sandal Bar police station. A police team, during routine patrolling, witnessed three suspects on Narwala Road on Monday night and signalled them to stop. The accused accelerated their bike and opened fire on the police party. The police returned fire and during the encounter, one of the outlaws received severe bullet injuries while his two accomplices managed to flee the scene. The police shifted the injured to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The accused was later identified as Azhar and was wanted by police in relation to a number of robbery cases, among other crimes. The police recovered one motorcycle, two mobile phones and illegal weapons from the scene while further investigation was in progress. Published in The Express Tribune, March 23rd, 2022.
