A man allegedly shot dead his wife at their house in Kallar Syedan on Saturday and fled the scene along with the weapon. Identified as Rizwana, the 35-year-old suffered multiple bullet wounds which proved fatal. Sania Bibi, the victim’s cousin, registered a case against Muhammad Hanif. Sania told the police she lived in Haripur and she, along with her husband Azhar Ali, was visiting her cousin Rizwana in Kallar Syedan. The deceased’s husband was reportedly absent when she was having lunch with her guests on Friday. Upon asking Rizwana why Hanif was not eating with them, the victim told Sania that they had a fight two days ago. When Sania probed the reason for the fight, Rizwana said that her husband was suspicious of her. At 10pm, when Rizwana was cooking dinner, Sania and Azhar Ali heard gunshots. They rushed to the kitchen, but Hanif had fired on her multiple times by then. When the couple tried to rescue Rizwana, he pushed them and started beating Rizwana with a stick. As a result, she suffered serious injuries and died on the spot. The suspect fled the scene after committing the crime. Police are looking into the case.
