Police launch ‘Drug-Free Hazara’ campaign

Police in the Hazara division on Monday launched a ‘Drug-Free Hazara’ campaign. Under the campaign, a special crackdown has been launched against suspected drug peddlers apart from rounding up addicts and transferring them to rehabilitation centres.

A spokesperson for the Hazara division police on Monday explained that the objective of the campaign is to purge the region of drugs and to take action against the prevalent network of drug dealers. As part of the campaign, the official explained that they are also launching an anti-drug awareness campaign in schools, colleges, universities as well as amongst the public.

As part of their campaign, the official said that they have registered 140 cases apart from arresting 165 suspects and seizing 170 kilogrammes of hashish and 15 kilogrammes of heroin in the past few days.
