Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that unity, dialogue and justice are the foundations of a strong and peaceful Pakistan. Addressing a scholars and clerics conference in Faisalabad on Sunday, the PUC chairman said Pakistan’s armed forces and leadership are fully capable of safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and stability. He said that peace and harmony can only be ensured by strengthening institutions and promoting justice-based systems. Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that Pakistan has made great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and will continue efforts for regional peace. The PUC chairman urged neighbouring Afghanistan to play a constructive role in ensuring stability and preventing elements that threaten peace. The relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have sharply deteriorated in the recent months.
