Awaam Pakistan Party (APP) convener Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday criticised the government, saying the incumbent regime has failed in governance and controlling corruption, while also raising concerns over the handling of the recent IMF report. Addressing a news conference in the federal capital alongside party leader Miftah Ismail, Abbasi said the IMF report highlighted several issues affecting the country's economy, including questions regarding the judiciary, which the government had allegedly kept hidden from the public. "This is essentially a summary of the points we have been raising for a long time. The IMF report does not contain anything new," Abbasi remarked. "The government has failed to improve governance or control corruption. We must take the IMF's findings seriously." Abbasi questioned why the government delayed releasing the report to the public. He also highlighted the country's economic challenges, stating that unemployment has reached a historic high of 7.1 per cent, prompting many young Pakistanis to seek opportunities abroad.
