Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that US President Donald Trump has directed the American companies to invest in Pakistans's key sectors including information technology, energy, agriculture, and minerals. Speaking to the media in New Jersey, the prime minister described his meeting with President Trump as 'very useful and important' for improving Pakistan's relations with the US. He noted that President Trump has expressed his desire of peace and played a commendable role in establishing ceasefires between Pakistan and India. Shehbaz Sharif maintained that Pakistan and the United States are giving a new dimension to their trade and economic ties. During the meeting, the discussions also covered the fair valuation of mineral resources and mutually beneficial trade agreements. Highlighting Pakistan’s economic progress, the prime minister said inflation has been brought down to single digits in just 18 months. He also pointed to steadily improving relations with Bangladesh, with positive developments occurring on both trade and diplomatic fronts. Answering a question, Shehbaz Sharif described the warm welcome he received in Saudi Arabia as 'unprecedented in 40 years' and praised Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for leading the Pakistan Army with wisdom and strategy, saying that under his leadership India was 'defeated'. In addition, a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office stated that the meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also focused on regional security, counterterrorism, and intelligence-based cooperations.
