Cancer patients in Rawalpindi to get free treatment at Holy Family Hospital

After successful treatment at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital, residents of Rawalpindi will soon benefit from free, cutting-edge treatment for life-threatening cancers, with the installation of a state-of-the-art cryoablation machine at the city’s largest medical facility, Holy Family Hospital (HFH). In compliance with the directives of the Punjab Health Department, the hospital administration has already submitted a formal requisition for the equipment. According to reports, after the successful treatment of five patients at Mayo Hospital Lahore using the first cryoablation machine—imported from China on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz—the provincial government has resolved to extend this facility to leading divisional headquarters hospitals across the province. Consequently, the provincial Health Department has called upon HFH, Rawalpindi, to formally request the machine’s installation. Medical Superintendent of HFH, Dr Ejaz Butt, stated that the requisition has been duly forwarded to the Health Department. Upon delivery, the machine will be installed in the hospital’s Radiology Department, where space has already been set aside. “We possess both the technical staff and the highly qualified doctors required to operate the cryoablation machine. We aim to ensure that it is fully functional within a year, thereby allowing us to commence free cancer treatment without delay,” Dr Butt affirmed. The cryoablation machine is particularly effective for cancers where surgery is unnecessary. It is capable of treating tumours of kidney, lungs, breast, liver, bladder, and various other parts of the human body with remarkable precision. Dr Butt further explained that once the machine becomes operational at HFH, cancer patients will be formally registered and treated in accordance with a structured schedule. He stressed that the provincial chief executive has shown exceptional foresight by procuring these advanced machines from China, thereby enabling cancer patients across Punjab to access lifesaving treatment free of charge.
