Former finance minister Miftah Ismail on Sunday said that privatization alone is not enough; the energy sector also needs people-friendly regulation and improved national and local governance. Addressing a conference titled "Powering Progress: Affordable Energy for Industry and Inclusive Growth", Ismail said electricity supply is a highly regulated sector that needs urgent reforms. The conference was attended by prominent figures from industry, energy utilities, policy institutions and the media.
