Former finance minister Miftah Ismail on Sunday said that privatization alone is not enough; the energy sector also needs people-friendly regulation and improved national and local governance. Addressing a conference titled "Powering Progress: Affordable Energy for Industry and Inclusive Growth", Ismail said electricity supply is a highly regulated sector that needs urgent reforms. The conference was attended by prominent figures from industry, energy utilities, policy institutions and the media. The aim of the conference was to present practical suggestions for affordable, reliable power supply and inclusive economic development.
