Four terrorists belonging to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in an armed clash with police in the Kot Mubarak area, near the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa–Punjab border last week, security officials said on Monday. Among the dead were senior TTP commander Saifullah, also known as Abu Basir al-Shami, and his deputy Muhammad Anas. The suspects were reportedly planning terrorist activities in the region when law enforcement engaged them in a targeted operation, sources added. Security forces recovered a cache of weapons, explosive materials, and significant documents from the possession of the militants, suggesting advanced preparations for subversive acts. The TTP has also confirmed the death of its Punjab province intelligence chief, Saifullah. According to sources, Saifullah was a resident of Ahmedpur Sharqia in Punjab and played a pivotal role in coordinating militant operations across southern Punjab. His presence was linked to a surge in both militant attacks and the intensification of security operations in the region. His killing is seen as a significant blow to the TTP’s operational network in Punjab. The operation is considered a major success in disrupting militant activities along the inter-provincial border region.
