A large-scale operation has been launched in the metropolitan city on the directives of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to eliminate illegal parking spaces and improve traffic flow across the metropolis. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, the operation aims to address longstanding traffic congestion issues and facilitate smoother movement for citizens. As part of the new measures, all forms of parking have been strictly prohibited along II Chundrigar Road, from Shaheen Complex to Merewether Tower. A ban has also been imposed on vehicle parking from Muhammad Bin Qasim Road to Dr Ziauddin Road, extending up to SM Law College. Moreover, parking on sidewalks or roadways has been outlawed citywide. The chief minister has directed authorities to enforce these rules rigorously, warning that violators will face strict legal action. He has also instructed that citizens use the Railway Ground as a designated parking facility. In a related move, traffic police have been ordered to crack down on vehicles with fancy or substandard number plates, as well as those without proper registration. Only government-standard number plates will be considered valid going forward. The DIG Traffic confirmed that Karachi Traffic Police are implementing a zero-tolerance policy in line with the chief minister's orders. He added that immediate legal action will be taken against those operating illegal parking lots and violating traffic regulations.
