Eight militants were killed and one soldier was martyred during multiple intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out by security forces across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Monday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations targeted suspected terrorist elements in North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Khyber, and Bannu districts. In the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, three militants were killed when troops “effectively engaged” their location. In a separate operation in South Waziristan, two more militants were neutralised. However, during the exchange of fire, Naik Mujahid Khan, 40, a resident of Kohat, embraced martyrdom. ISPR described him as a “brave son of soil” who “fought gallantly and paid the ultimate sacrifice.” Two additional engagements occurred in Khyber and Bannu districts, where three more militants were killed. Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the sites. ISPR said the militants were involved in attacks against both security personnel and civilians. “Sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area,” it stated, adding, “The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
