The Senate Subcommittee on Human Rights on Thursday approved a bill to establish a commission on minority rights in line with United Nations standards and international regulations. The meeting was chaired by Senator Ali Zafar. The proposed commission will be tasked with assessing and monitoring the implementation of constitutional guarantees and safeguards for the promotion and protection of minority rights. It will also review existing or proposed policies or programmes aimed at preventing discrimination and protecting minority communities, while providing relevant recommendations to concerned departments.
