The armed forces of Pakistan and Morocco commenced the third edition of their joint bilateral military exercise on Monday, focusing on counter-terrorism training and professional skill enhancement, according to a statement from Pakistan’s military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The opening ceremony took place at the Special Operations School in Cherat, a military training facility nestled in the hilly terrain of northwestern Pakistan’s Nowshera district. The exercise, titled Pak-Morocco Joint Bilateral Military Exercise-2025, brings together Pakistan’s elite Special Services Group (SSG) and Moroccan special forces. The goal, ISPR noted, is to foster interoperability, exchange tactical expertise, and reinforce long-standing defense ties between the two nations. “The exercise is aimed at refining professional skills through joint training and harnessing historic military-to-military relations among the friendly countries,” ISPR said in a statement. Pakistan shares a history of warm diplomatic and military relations with several Arab countries, including Morocco. These ties frequently translate into joint training drills, defense production partnerships, and counter-terrorism intelligence sharing. Last year, the collaboration extended into the aerospace domain, when Moroccan Air Force Inspector Major General Mohammed Gadih visited Pakistan and discussed expanding military cooperation. During his visit, the Pakistan Air Force chief reaffirmed the country’s commitment to offering basic and tactical training programs to Moroccan personnel. The ongoing military exercise is seen as another step toward strengthening defense diplomacy and operational coordination between the two Islamic nations.
