Renowned Pakistani actress and model Iffat Omar has declined the Punjab government's offer to appoint her as the provincial cultural advisor. The Punjab government appointed actress and television host Iffat Omar as the cultural adviser to Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari. According to an official notification, Omar was to work with the ministry to design and implement programs aimed at promoting and preserving the province’s cultural heritage. However, Iffat Omar declined the offer, expressing her gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), stating that she “humbly” turning it down after careful consideration. She thanked the Punjab government and Maryam Nawaz for considering her for the role. In her post, Omar expressed appreciation for the trust placed in her but conveyed her decision to respectfully decline the offer. She also extended her best wishes for the Ministry of Culture. The news of Omar's potential appointment had circulated in local media earlier this week, sparking discussions among her followers and the public. Following the announcement of her potential appointment, congratulatory messages flooded in from various quarters. However, within hours, Omar clarified her stance, stating that she had declined the offer. Many X users praised Omar's decision to decline the position, with one user commenting, "My respect for you has increased today." Another user remarked, "You are the first woman to graciously decline a government offer." Conversely, some users suggested that Omar should have accepted the position. A user named Gearbox Handle commented, "When given a responsibility, one should step forward and fulfill it. One must act with sincerity and earn applause through actions rather than public declarations."
