The divisional administration has decided to register pushcarts and shift them to a designated area. The initiative is part of efforts to eliminate encroachments and improve the city infrastructure, Divisional Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan said while addressing a meeting that all necessary facilities would be provided in model bazaars and pushcart markets. Municipal staff will be assigned duties to regulate the markets for ensuring that no registered vendor sets up a cart outside the designated zones. The commissioner also directed the officials concerned to accelerate the anti-encroachment operation, emphasising the need for wider streets and a cleaner environment for Eid shoppers. The meeting was attended by the deputy commissioners and officials from relevant departments. The participants were also informed that the distribution of pay orders among deserving families in the division under the Ramazan package is in its final stages. Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar visited the under construction Safe City Authority office and asked the officials concerned to ensure the earliest possible completion of the state-of-art monitoring mechanism. The CPO said that the complete enforcement of the system equipped with modern technology would prove to be a milestone in maintaining law and order and check crimes. He said that the safe city project would soon be inaugurated. On the other hand, several hotels, sweet shops, bakeries and water were inspected, leading to heavy fines for violations of hygiene and food safety standards. Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams conducted inspections at outlets in various areas, including Bairun Haram Gate, Chowk Shah Abbas, Sanaullah Chowk Makhdoom Rasheed and Suraj Miani Road.
