Preliminary findings suggest that driver error may have played a role in the derailment of the Shalimar Express in Lahore, according to railway sources. A four-member inquiry committee has been constituted, comprising the Deputy chief engineer bridge, deputy chief engineer mechanical, deputy chief engineer carriage and deputy chief officer safety. The investigation team has collected evidence, conducted thorough inspections of the railway tracks and bridge, and reviewed CCTV footage. Statements from the train's driver, guards, eyewitnesses and other staff have also been recorded.
