Pakistan will host an international conference on girls' education in Muslim communities from January 11-12 in Islamabad, welcoming over 150 dignitaries from 44 Muslim and allied countries. The event, organised by Pakistan’s education ministry, will address the challenges and opportunities in advancing girls’ education worldwide. The conference, titled 'Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities,' aims to foster dialogue, share transformative success stories, and find actionable solutions to educational challenges. According to the Foreign Office, the summit will also serve as a platform for high-level discussions and collaborations between ministers, ambassadors, scholars, and representatives from international organisations, including UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the conference and deliver the keynote address, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to promoting girls' education and gender equality. The event will conclude with the signing of the Islamabad Declaration, a formal document outlining the collective commitment of the Muslim community to empower girls through education, paving the way for inclusive and sustainable educational reforms.
