LHC declines immediate suspension

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has turned down a request to immediately suspend certain sections of the PECA Amendment Bill 2025, seeking replies from the relevant authorities on a petition challenging the Act's constitutionality. Justice Farooq Haider, while presiding over the case, remarked that a decision would be made only after hearing all concerned parties. The judge subsequently issued notices to the respondents, directing them to submit their responses within three weeks. The petition was filed by Jaffar Bin Yar through his counsel Advocate Nadeem Sarwar, with respondents including the Federation of Pakistan through the Ministry of Law and Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication, and the PTA through its chairman.
