Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has condemned the practice of blocking roads during ongoing protests, calling it an inappropriate approach to addressing grievances. Speaking to the media in Karachi, Wahab urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to address the situation in Parachinar directly, rather than allowing disruptions to spill over into other cities. “It is not suitable to block roads under the guise of protests. No matter what happens in the country, protests in Karachi always lead to city-wide shutdowns,” he stated. Wahab revealed that he had informed Sindh Minister Nasir Hussain Shah about the ongoing disruptions caused by protests. “He assured me that work is being done to resolve the issue, and I am hopeful that it will be resolved by today,” the mayor added. Citywide traffic chaos due to religious party's protests Meanwhile, Karachi’s traffic flow has been severely affected as a religious party continues sit-ins at 12 key locations across the city who are protesting in response to the recent Parachinar incident. Major arteries of Karachi, including Numaish Chowrangi, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir 15, Gulimaar, Power House Chowrangi, and Abul Hassan Isphahani Road, remain congested due to blockades. Other areas such as Five Star Chowrangi, Surjani Town, Incholi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar near Kamran Chowrangi, and parts of the National Highway near Steel Town are also facing significant disruptions. The protests have left commuters stranded and city operations disrupted, highlighting the widespread impact of these demonstrations on daily life in Karachi.
