A video of a police officer pushing an elderly woman trying to enter a primary school during a recent visit of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has gone viral on social media. RPO Sajjad Hasan Khan suspended the police official involved in the incident, Muhammad Umar, who belongs to the Layyah district. When Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz arrived at the school, an elderly local woman, Bhuranawa, tried to enter the premises. The police official posted at the gate pushed the woman back. After the video surfaced on social media, the RPO suspended the policeman for his inappropriate behaviour with the elderly woman. DPO Syed Ali and SP Investigation Bakhtiar Ahmed Khan called the woman to their office and apologised for the behaviour of the policeman. The DPO said that while respecting the dignity of citizens, all officials should behave with good manners. He urged that police officials on security duty to ensure the implementation of the SOPs at all cost. He said the police personnel should not hurt anyone's self-respect.
