The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is set to hear petitions filed by Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, and her husband, seeking to suspend their sentences and secure bail in the Iddat case. Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb will preside over the hearing today. The application argues that her conviction is based on weak evidence and inconsistencies in the prosecution's case. The petition also claims that the case against her is politically motivated, resulting in her detention in Adiala Jail under deplorable conditions. She requested the court to decide the petition “in the interest of justice”. Earlier, the IHC registrar had raised objections regarding the request. The IHC registrar’s office stated that the petitioner had not challenged any order from the lower court and that an identical matter was already pending before the trial court.
