Security forces on Wednesday carried out a meticulously planned intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, targeting reported terrorist hideouts, the military said in a statement. According to the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a fierce exchange of fire erupted between the security forces and the terrorists during the operation, resulting in the neutralisation of six terrorists. The slain terrorists, who were actively engaged in a series of terrorist activities including target killings, extortion, and abduction of innocent civilians, were found in possession of a cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. Following the successful operation, the security forces have launched a sanitisation operation to root out any remaining terrorist elements in the area.
