Official pledges compensation to victims

Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha visited the site of under construction Dadhocha Dam on Saturday and promised locals to address their concerns regarding the project. According to a statement, Liaqat Ali Chatha was briefed by departments concerned about the headway of this project. He also spoke to the locals and gave an ear to their concerns. On this occasion, the commissioner said the patriotism and sacrifice of the local residents was commendable. “Locals, including the residents of Arazi Sehaal, Malikpur Azizal, and Khanpur, are praiseworthy. We value their sacrifices and will make every effort to provide them with the full outcomes of these sacrifices.” In light of the Supreme Court’s decision and the instructions of the Punjab caretaker government, the cost of land will be set according to the current rate, he said. Chatha said those whose property is affected by the dam will be given fair compensation. The Rawalpindi commissioner directed that the district administration and the public should work hard on this project to provide clean water for future generations. During the briefing to the commissioner, it was told that Dadhocha Dam was located at a distance of 25 kilometers from Rawalpindi. The height of the dam is 123 feet. After its construction, this dam will provide 35 million gallons of water per day for Rawalpindi city, which will benefit domestic consumers. The commissioner said on this occasion that the construction work of Dadhocha Dam will be started again soon. Cleanliness drive Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Chairman Saqib Rafiq Saturday reviewed cleanliness drive being conducted in several areas of the garrison city and ordered officials to make it a success. According to a statement, the chairman paid a visit to Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, where he interacted with the locals to gauge their satisfaction with the ongoing cleanliness campaign. He said RWMC has proactively transformed Rawalpindi into a city free from waste, dengue, and smog. According to Saqib Rafiq, the focus is on harnessing all available resources and meticulous planning to achieve this ambitious goal. The chairman emphasised the importance of individual responsibility when it comes to cleanliness. He stated that serving the community with dedication should be the primary objective of everyone involved. Providing a clean environment to the city's residents remains a top priority, he said and called upon citizens to cooperate in this endeavour. Rafiq encouraged citizens to share their feedback and suggestions on cleanliness through the helpline 1139 and the company's social media channels.
