President Dr Arif Alvi on August 9 sent back 13 bills with written objections. However, he did not write any objections on the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2023 and the Official Secrets (Amendment) Bill 2023. According to the Constitution, the president has to write objections and return a bill. If the president does not approve or object within 10 days, the bill is considered approved. The president sent back the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, the National Skills University (Amendment) Bill, Import Export (Amendment) Bill and Higher Education Commission (Amendment) Bill. Read more: 'God is my witness': President Arif Alvi denies signing key laws Alvi also sent back the Journalists and Media Professionals Protection Bill, the Newspapers, News Agencies and Books Registration Bill, Public Service Commission (Amendment) Bill, Federal Urdu University (Amendment) Bill, NFC Institute Multan (Amendment) Bill, National Commission for Human Development (Amendment) Bill, National Institute of Technology Bill, Pakistan Institute of Management Sciences and Technology Bill, and Horizon University Bill. Meanwhile, the president also signed the Pemra (Amendment) Bill on August 15.
