The finance committee of the upper house of the parliament has approved an allowance of Rs1.03 billion for the employees of the Senate Secretariat. A meeting of the Senate Finance Committee was held on Monday at the Parliament House with Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani presiding in the chair. According to sources in the Senate Secretariat, the meeting gave the green light to an allowance of Rs1.03 billion for the Senate employees. They said each of the employees will get three budget allowances as well as five honorariums. The lower house of the parliament--the National Assembly--has already approved an allowance of Rs2.5 billion for its employees. Interestingly, every employee associated with the parliament is already getting a salary that is 60% higher than the salary received by an employee of an equivalent grade in a regular federal department.
