The news circulating on social media about the death of former Punjab minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed in District Jail Lahore is false and devoid of truth. According to the jail authorities, Rasheed is currently in District Jail Lahore and is in good health, receiving all necessary medical facilities. Officials clarified that on July 22, 2023, Rasheed was temporarily transferred to Punjab Institute of Cardiology for an ‘Echocardiography’ test after receiving approval from the Punjab government. Following examination by a consultant professor, he was subsequently returned to the jail on the same day. The authorities have expressed concern that such baseless and fabricated news is being spread with an intention to defame the Punjab government and the Punjab Prisons Department.
