Pakistani rights activist, Advocate Nida Usman Chaudhary, has won the ‘Leadership Award in Women Rights and Activism’. She received the award on Saturday at a ceremony held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The activist is one of the recipients of this year’s ‘Leadership Award in Women Rights and Activism’ under the ‘Top50 Professional & Career Women Global Awards – Thirteenth Edition’ 2023, in Sri Lanka. The winners were selected out of 102 nominations from all over the world, as per a press release. The nominees were finalised by Women in Management (WIM), Sri Lanka in collaboration with Women in Work, a partnership between the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Australian government. The award highlights and honours women in the national, regional, and global economy and celebrates their achievements, experience and creativity in leading the institutions, professions and businesses in an efficient and effective manner. It aims to recognise women who excel in their careers, businesses and everyday life while inspiring others, highlight men who have committed towards gender equality & diversity, and encourage legislative, public and private executive authorities, civil society for their contribution towards gender equality, diversity, social responsibilities, climate and environment actions and good governance. The honour is also aimed at appreciating institutional and individual efforts, initiatives and projects that target mainstreaming diversity. The ‘Top50’ awards, launched in 2011 with a mere five awards, has now recognised over 890 women leaders, representing a wide array of professions such as banking and finance, hospitality, media, legal, logistics and supply chains.
