Haseeb Khan, a farmer from Qasba Gujrat, won the grand prize of Rs300,000 after he recorded a wheat yield of 2.24 tons per acre in the district level wheat production contest, an official release said on Wednesday. Muhammad Pehelwan from Rangpur secured second place with a yield of 2.02 tons per acre and won a Rs200,000 prize, while Muhammad Amjad from tahsil Jatoi took third with a yield of 1.79 tons per acre and received a Rs100,000 cash award from Deputy Commissioner Salman Khan Lodhi. The DC said that farmers can go beyond the wheat yield they achieved by taking good care of their crops, in accordance with the guidelines provided by the agriculture officials.
