The local courts have sentenced a convict to death twice in a double-murder case while awarding a total of 19 years imprisonment to another accused after charges were proved against him. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Faisal Rasheed while pronouncing the verdict in the famous double murder case of RA Bazar police station sentenced Zaheer Sharif to death twice besides imposing a fine of Rs1.4 million on him. The suspect had brutally killed Saima Mumtaz and her husband, Haji Muhammad Hussain, for refusing to marry their daughter to him. The RA Bazar Police registered the case on January 19, 2007. Although the accused had made good his escape from the spot after committing the crime, he was subsequently arrested by the police. Imtiaz Khan, the complainant of the case, said that the accused wanted to marry Ishrat and on the refusal by her parents, he barged into their house and killed the girl’s parents.
