Rescuers and locals recovered on Tuesday the body of a 50-year-old man who drowned in the Ghazi Barotha Canal a day earlier. According to the police, the victim was identified as Wajid Waheed of Mardan. Police added that Waheed had gone into deep waters while bathing. He drowned due to that which led to his death. They added that personnel of Rescue 1122 participated in the rescue operation alongside locals but they were only able to recover his body. His body was first shifted to the hospital for medico-legal proceedings after which it was handed over to the heirs for burial. Meanwhile, police said on Tuesday that they had arrested three suspects over the murder of a man last week following a quarrel between neighbours in Noorpur’s Sarara village. On May 25, one person was killed and another injured after a dispute in within the limits of Saddar police station. Saddar Station House Officer (SHO) Amir Khan along with police personnel under the supervision of the area Deputy Superintendent of Police Umar Hayat arrested the three accused, Gohar Rehman, Imran and Ramzan and presented them in court.
