CJP’s salary is seven times higher than PM’s, PAC told

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday was informed that the chief justice of Pakistan drew a salary seven times higher than that of the prime minister. The details presented to the committee on its request further revealed that the top judge’s salary was slightly less than what the president of the country drew if it was doubled. The monthly salaries of the people occupying the top-most offices of the country were disclosed before the PAC, which met with its chairman Noor Alam Khan presiding over the huddle. After receiving the relevant information, the PAC chairman told the participants of the meeting that the salary of the president was Rs896,550 per month. In comparison, the prime minister draws a salary of Rs201,574 per month, which is less than Rs338,125 per month paid to a federal minister. A National Assembly member draws a salary of Rs188,000 per month. According to the details, the monthly salary of the CJP is Rs1.52 million. Whereas, the salary of a Supreme Court judge is Rs1.47 million per month. The salary of a grade-22 officer is Rs591,475 per month.
