A man and his son were gunned down and another son injured by a landowner allegedly after they demanded their wage for working at his mustard field. According to the police, Malik Tariq Khan shot and killed Haji Khan and his son Mohammad Ramzan near Faisal Chowk. Another son of Haji Khan was injured in the firing. The bodies were shifted to the Kallurkot Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem and a case was registered against the suspected killer in the Chandni Chowk police station. The police said they were searching for the suspect by he had not been traced yet. The funeral prayers for the deceased were offered amidst a mournful atmosphere in the locality. Local resident said a large number of people attended the funeral prayers and condoled with the family of the victims over the incident. The deceased were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyard. This is not the first instance of a landowner killing people on their land. In April of last year, a landlord and his servant were arrested over allegedly torturing a teenage shepherd to death in Muzaffargarh. Both the accused were arrested after DPO Tariq Wilayat took notice of the killing of Muhammad Hassan, a 10th class student. Javed Iqbal, the victim’s uncle, informed Alipur Sadar police that Hassan was tending his herd of goats when the landlord, Fayyaz Ghazlani and his servant, Bilal Arain, allegedly started torturing him after the herd entered Ghazlani’s fields. The accused then removed a string from the neck of a goat, tied it around Hassan’s neck and hanged him by a tree. Iqbal said that he rushed to the area after he heard his nephew crying for help and brought him to the ground. However, by that time he had died, according to the FIR. Alipur Sadar police arrested both the accused and started investigation.
