The Islamabad High Court has granted an extension into the stay on FIR proceedings against Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid until May 31 in the case pertaining to his allegations against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) cochair Asif Ali Zardari for plotting to assassinate PTI chief Imran Khan. The FIRs were registered in Lasbela and Mochko police stations against the AML chief for his controversial statement against the ex-president in which he maintained that the latter was conspiring to assassinate the former prime minister. During the hearing on Saturday, the court inquired as to how the FIRs could be registered in Karachi for an incident that occurred in Islamabad. IHC’s Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri issued a written order on Rashid’s plea according to which the former interior minister is accused of using derogatory language against PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
