Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Shahid Zaman and Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi visited the route of the Lahore Marathon and Tour de Lahore Cycle Race on Friday, in order to review arrangements for these events, which are scheduled to be held on March 12th in connection with Jashan Baharan festivities. Besides the Marathon and the Tour de Lahore, the Punjab Sports Board will also organise a Family Race and Wheelchair Race to enhance the festive atmosphere of Jashan Baharan. District Sports Officer Lahore Tanveer Shah, Shahzada Butt and M Waqar of the Punjab Cycling Association and Salman Iqbal Butt of the Punjab Athletics Association briefed Secretary Zaman and DG Qureshi about the arrangements of these events. Secretary Sports said that instructions were issued to clean the routes of the Lahore Marathon and Tour de Lahore and added that there should be foolproof security for the participants of both races. "Rescue 1122 and staff from the Health Department should be present along the route so that participants can be provided first aid in case of any emergency," he explained. DG SBP said that the Punjab Sports Board is making the best possible arrangements for the Lahore Marathon and Tour de Lahore. Published in The Express Tribune, March 4th, 2023.
