Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta has instructed officials concerned that if dengue larvae are found on a property despite prior warning during the anti-dengue campaign, the property should be marked with red colour and an FIR should be lodged against the owner. The commissioner presided over an anti-dengue review meeting, accompanied by Dr Waseem Akram, where he emphasised the need for enforcing the anti-dengue campaign in an orderly manner. He said that strict action will be taken against all the violators of the anti-dengue campaign guidelines. The official said that the heads of government departments will be responsible for the implementation of dengue SOPs in their institutions and special attention would be paid to the roofs of buildings and particularly those buildings which are currently under construction. No negligence will be tolerated in this regard, he added. The commissioner has directed the DG of Rawalpindi Development Authority to notify housing site owners regarding the implementation of sanitation and dengue SOPs. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in the filing of an FIR against the site owners. Additionally, Patwaris have been instructed to identify vacant plots within the city and notify the owners to clean them. Published in The Express Tribune, March 19th, 2023.
