A man, his wife and several other people allegedly tortured a woman, stripped her, made a video of her and uploaded it on social media, police said. The RPO took notice of the incident after the video went viral and sought a report from the CPO before forming teams under the direction of the SSP (Operation) to arrest the perpetrators. Khurrianwala police registered a case, but none of the suspects could be arrested. Muhammad Taj had a case registered with the police in which he alleged that Maqsood, Sajid, Kashmiran Bibi and Fahad, who happened to be his (the complainant’s) close relations, barged into his house and started kicking and punching his wife. During the melee, Kashmiran Bibi stripped his wife while Fahad Maqsood recorded the complainant’s wife’s humiliation on his mobile phone. After hearing his wife’s screams, neighbours intervened and pleaded with the accused to spare the victim’s life. The complainant told the police that the suspect humiliated his wife and uploaded the clip on a couple of websites. The complainant, Muhammad Taj, said that the accused, Maqsood, suspected Taj’s son and Maqsood’s daughter had been having an affair. Khurrianwala Police registered a case under Sections 354A and 452 of the PPC against the nominated accused. Published in The Express Tribune, December 2nd, 2022.
