The Islamabad High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan on the government's plea challenging the poll body’s decision to hold local body elections in 101 union councils in the federal capital according to the old election schedule. The court adjourned the hearing till Friday (today) by club together all petitions related to the local body elections including a contempt of court petition filed by the PTI against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamir Farooq took up identical petitions including PTI leader Ali Nawaz Awan's contempt of court petition against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a petition of the representative of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, seeking postponement of the polls in 101 union councils, petitions against the accuracy of the voter’s list before the elections and against the ECP decision to hold the elections in 101 UCs instead of 125 UCs.
