The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued instructions to all field formations to send the list of officers and personnel in grades 1 to 21 holding dual citizenship to the headquarters on an urgent basis. The FBR has specified that those who do not provide information about dual citizenship within the prescribed period, their reply would considered as “no” and in such case, if there is any evidence of dual citizenship was found, disciplinary action may be taken against such official. The letter, a copy of which is available to The Express Tribune, has been sent to Large Tax Office, Karachi; Corporate Tax Office, Islamabad; Corporate Tax Office, Lahore; Regional Tax Office, Abbottabad; besides all commissioners of appeals and others. The letter states that the Establishment Division and the Public Accounts Committee have asked for information about the officials and employees, who have dual citizenship, adding that several letters have been sent the field formations, but the information has not been sent to headquarters by various offices. Therefore, a reminder is being sent again with the direction that immediate compliance should be ensured on receipt of the letter, it says.
