Food dept introduces geotagging system

In order to streamline the distribution of wheat flour in Hazara division, the KP government Friday introduced a geotagging system and ordered dealers to register their location within three days. According to sources, KP food minister Atif Khan has directed the food department to start geotagging all wheat flour dealers at the earliest. The dealers have been warned that in case of non-compliance with the official directives, their licenses would be canceled and contracts would be terminated, sources said. The sources quoted officials as saying that the new system was a landmark development in the province in terms of food sector management through technology-based intervention. They said the digital system covered almost all areas of management from godown management, and fleet management, to the e-inspection. It will provide much-needed relief to the public by curbing hoarding and profiteering, they added. Sources further informed that after registering the dealers, the food department would be able to know the record of the wheat stock with just a click of a button. It will also enable decision makers to know the real-time status of wheat stock in the region and get details of the wheat needs, stock in the godowns, and that with millers and suppliers, they added. On the same day, the KP Higher Education Commission appointed 10 female lecturers for the vacant posts in various colleges of Hazara division. Published in The Express Tribune, November 26th, 2022.
