The School of Education Deakin University Australia sent its Pakistani doctoral fellow and Sargodha University’s youngest PhD scholar to the National Assembly of Pakistan, to observe governance issues, policy matters and the challenges faced by higher education institutions. Dr Mohsin Raza has served University of Sargodha in various roles, including Assistant Director Academics, Deputy Director Planning, Founding Manager Facilitation Center, Secretary Admission Committee and Deputy Staff Secretary. The National Assembly of Pakistan attached Dr Raza with the Standing Committee for Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture, providing him the opportunity to learn policy, planning, legislation and governance at a national level. Radhika Gorur, Associate Professor at Deakin University and Dr Raza’s PhD supervisor, said that providing opportunities to learn about policy and governance matters related to the higher education sector would be enormously useful for finding the real-time results. Parliamentary Secretary for Energy MNA Hamid Hameed, a member of Pakistan’s Standing Committee for Higher Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture, praised the efforts of Deakin University Australia to support and promote young scholars. Quality research promotion and academia-industry ties would help Pakistan achieve prosperity, he said. Expressing his views on the occasion, Dr Raza thanked the Deakin’s Graduate Research Academy and his research supervisors for providing him the unique opportunity of international placement and the National Assembly of Pakistan for facilitating him in getting experience.
