Deputy Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh directed the environmental protection department to penalise the owners of brick-kilns and factory units emitting excessive smoke and causing smog. During a meeting on Sunday, the DC said that the government ordered kiln houses and factories to install zigzag technology to minimize the emission of smoke, which was the main cause of smog during winter. He directed field officials of the environment protection to accelerate efforts to ensure the installation of zigzag technology at all kilns and factories.
