Eight hacked to death in Sheikhupura

At least eight people in Sheikhupura were hacked to death with an axe as they slept, police said on Saturday.  Police officials said a man armed with an axe and an iron rod murdered the eight victims as they slept in Hechidar village, a suburb of Sheikhupura They added that the suspect, identified as Faiz, has been taken into custody and appears to suffer from mental health issues.  Read Man held for allegedly stabbing wife to death The murders reportedly took place around 3 am, after which the police were informed and reached the site of the incident, taking control of the area to collect evidence. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi also took notice of the incident and called for a report. He also ensured the families of the victims that justice will be served. IG Punjab has also ordered a thorough probe into the case, seeking a report from the RPO Sheikhupura.
