PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has assumed control over the party decision-making and tasked her daughter — party's Vice-President Maryam Nawaz — with countering PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s narrative. Express News quoting PML-N sources reported on Thursday that Maryam represented her father in Wednesday’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. The representatives of other allied parties also attended the huddle in which the participants discussed the prevailing political situation of the country. The party insiders said Maryam had instructed the ruling party leaders and ministers to robustly highlight alleged wrongdoings of the previous PTI regime. The party leaders were also directed to effectively highlight the PTI prohibited funding case verdict in the media by holding press conferences on a daily basis. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday finally announced its ruling in the long-awaited, cliffhanger case of the PTI's prohibited funding and ruled that the party did indeed receive illegal funding while issuing a notice to the party asking why the funds should not be confiscated. The decision also came after PML-N suffered a shock defeat in Punjab by-elections last month, paving the way for PTI to take the reins of the Punjab government. The workers conventions will also be organised across the country to revive the party and intensify campaign against the arch-rival PTI, the insiders added
