Internet services disrupted in parts of Pakistan, again

In less than three days, internet users on Monday yet again experienced disruption of services in parts of Pakistan. Internet outages tracking organisation NetBlocks confirmed the disruption. It said in its report that only Transworld and Jazz Internet were working. The cause of the disruption remains unclear. The Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) blamed heavy rains and floods the cause internet outages on August 19. Read more: Heavy rains, floods cause internet outages in Pakistan The PTCL is the main provider of internet bandwidth in central and northern Pakistan and millions rely on the service for internet connectivity. “As a result, PTCL users in Northern and Central regions are facing internet outage," the telecom regulator said. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), there are 116 million users of 3G and 4G services and 119 million broadband subscribers in the country.
