A young boy, who was swept away in a flash flood, was miraculously found alive in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday. The young boy worked as a mechanic and was missing for four days after the truck he was in was caught in a tumultuous flash flood. The body of the child's mechanic teacher was found in the flood water a day before. The truck driver is still missing and a search is underway to find him. He stayed on it for four days and fought hunger, thirst and sleep deprivation to survive. The destruction of infrastructure and breakdown in communication links adds to the difficulties faced by the authorities in rescue and relief efforts in the region. The government has called on the international community to help as it struggles to cope with the aftermath of torrential rains that have triggered massive floods, killing nearly 1,000 people.
