The Senate Standing Committee on Interior expressed its annoyance on the absence of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspectors general from its meeting on Friday, following a bomb attack on the house of Senator Hidayatullah. During the meeting, the senator informed the committee that a grenade was thrown at his house and the police had assured him of arresting the culprits very soon. He revealed that he had received an extortion call from a phone number from a Middle Eastern country. Peshawar’s senior superintendent of police informed the committee that CCTV footage of the attack had been obtained and the geo-fencing would be done in 15 days. At present, he added, the extortion mafia was harassing businessmen of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital.
