Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Noorul Amin Mengal on Saturday inaugurated a seven-day anti-polio campaign. During the drive, 948,000 children will be administered polio drops in the entire Rawalpindi district. The anti-polio campaign is being conducted in seven districts of Punjab, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Layyah, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Mianwali. The campaign is being carried out in these areas keeping in view the polio virus circulation. District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Lubna Ishaq said that 4465 teams had been deployed for the anti-polio campaign. She said that the Auqaf department will be involved to contact religious figures to cover refusal cases on the same day. The Rawalpindi division commissioner said that polio eradication is a national responsibility. “The effectiveness of the anti-polio campaign should be taken into consideration.
