The joint opposition on Friday submitted a no-trust motion against National Assembly Deputy Speaker Muhammad Qasim Khan Suri, alleging that he sided with the government instead of remaining impartial. The motion was submitted under clause (7) of the Article 53 of the Constitution, read with Rule 12 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business. Seeking the removal of Suri, the opposition in its motion said that the deputy speaker has repeatedly violated the rules of parliamentary practices, democratic norms and traditions and even constitutional provisions.
