Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday told a rally in Lahore that former prime minister Imran Khan's "match was fixed" from day one in power, saying he used the tactics to continue to rule the masses. "Imran Khan wants early elections... and let me tell you why...," the PML-N leader told a rally held in the Johar Town neighbourhood of Punjab's capital city. "He [Imran] wants to manipulate some key appointments to get the [election] results he wants," she added. Maryam said that her father and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif toppled Imran's government while sitting in London and would now "bury the PTI chief's politics forever". Mocking Imran for his claims of fighting until "the last ball", she said that when the time came, Imran chose to "flee the scene". She also took the former prime minister to task for asking why the courts had opened at midnight. "It was because those who are on your payroll refused to accept courts' orders." According to the PML-N leader, when all of Imran Khan's efforts went in vain, he resorted to speaking about a "foreign conspiracy". نائب صدر پاکستان مسلم لیگ ن مریم نواز شریف اور نو منتحب وزیر اعلی پنجاب حمزہ شہباز شریف کی حلقہ NA-135/136 جوہر ٹاؤن آمد لیگی کارکنان سے ملاقات https://t.co/gYxqyqFNga — PML(N) (@pmln_org) April 27, 2022 "A conspiracy is never hatched against an unsuccessful man like Imran," she remarked. Calling the former premier by the name of 'Tosha Khan' in reference to the Toshakhana case, she asked Imran to instead give details about his performance during his four-year rule. Maryam also criticised the PTI chairman's call to organise protests outside the offices of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), saying he decided to attack institutions when his lies got exposed. "He [Imran] is raising a hue and cry as the institutions are now standing with the Constitution." On April 10, Imran Khan, the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan, became the first chief executive to be removed from office after losing a majority in the National Assembly. Imran’s PTI party, which governed the country for over three-and-a-half years, had been struggling to stay in power as its allies betrayed to join hands with opposition parties that had joined forces against the government. While Pakistan’s history has been marred with political instability, no prime minister has ever been removed from office through a no-trust motion.
